The King

Pastor Jamie Self - 3/29/2026

The sermon presents the Exodus pattern as the shape of salvation, moving from exile and bondage to deliverance, wilderness formation, and finally God’s presence, and it connects this pattern to Holy Week and the arrival of Jesus as King. The message explains that the Passover lamb serves as a substitute that points to Jesus, whose death and resurrection fulfill the true deliverance from sin and death rather than political oppression. The teaching calls believers to recognize their place in this pattern so that their worship, including the cry of Hosanna, flows from a true understanding of redemption and leads into life with God.

Weekly Reflection

“God saves His people, and there is a shape to it.”
Palm Sunday reveals a King entering the story at the exact moment the pattern of salvation reaches its turning point. The people sang “Hosanna,” yet the deeper rescue was still unfolding through the cross and resurrection. The same pattern shapes every life—exile, cry, deliverance, and formation into God’s presence. This invites a clear question: where is my heart within that movement, and am I trusting Jesus to lead me all the way through it?
